Casting Stones

Once there was a woman,
She was caught in the midst of sin.
The crowd brought her to Jesus,
Demanding the law again.
Adultery was the charge,
She was caught in the act.
But, the man that she was with
Wasn't brought and that's a fact.
The Law, it said to stone them.
Jesus stooped and began to write
In the sand on the ground.
Must have gave them quite a fright.
Then he stood and told the crowd,
If you're perfect, cast the first stone.
One by one they went away,
She was standing all alone.

And he didn't cast stones.
There was pain in Jesus eyes.
He didn't cast stones.
For mercy, heaven cried.
Instead, he looked upon her
And grace was multiplied.
And He didn't cast stones.
He forgave her of her sin.
For He who is so perfect,
Set her on His path again,
And He cast no stones.

Once, a man named Stephen,
Angered this same crowd,
By teaching and preaching Jesus.
The accused him aloud.
He told them of the error
Of the way that they lived.
And told them about Jesus,
Who came, new life to give.
His face full of glory,
For He could see the Holy Son,
Standing with the Father.
He knew Jesus was the one.
But the teachers of the law,
Supposed holy men of God,
Dragged him outside the city.
Where Jesus feet had trod.

And they cast stones.
There was pain in Jesus eyes.
And they cast stones,
While for mercy heaven cried.
The heavens were wide opened
And grace was multiplied.
And Stephen looked to Jesus,
The one who, on the cross, had died.
While they cast stones
Stephen said, "Forgive them of their sin."
And the one who is so perfect
Through death, brought Stephen unto him
While they cast stones.

And the story of the stones,
Well, it continues to this day.
For we are still so guilty,
Who claim to walk in Jesus way.
A brother slips and falls.
A sister stumble to her knees.
And we desire the Law,
While for grace, Jesus pleads.
We forget where once came from
And the hand that reached down,
The one that has the nail scars
That placed us on His holy ground.
The grace and mercy that He gave us,
While we were in our sin,
Should be offered to the fallen
To put them on their feet again.

But, we cast stones.
There is pain in Jesus eyes,
For we cast stones,
While for mercy heaven cries.
The heavens are wide opened
And grace is multiplied.
And we should look to Jesus,
The one who, on the cross, has died.
Yet, we cast stones.
He forgave us of our sin.
For He who is so perfect,
Desires to forgive, again,
Yet, we cast stones.

Please, don't cast stones.
There is pain in Jesus eyes.
Please don't cast stones.
Cause for mercy heaven cries.
The heavens are wide open
And grace is multiplied.
And we should look to Jesus,
The one who, on the cross, has died.
And he didn't cast stones.
He forgave us of our sin.
For He who is so perfect
Will forgive us again.
Please don't cast stones.

He didn't cast stones.

We shouldn't cast stones.

Please don't cast stones.
