Shaking the Meeting Place

On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.  When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God.  “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.  You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father, David:   ‘Why do the nations rage and the people plot in vain?  The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his Anointed One.’  Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you appointed.  They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.  Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.  Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous sings and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

After they had prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken.  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldy.  Acts 4:23-31

What a prayer and what a God!  In unity they prayed for the Lord God to heal and perform miracles along with miraculous signs.  This is what the church needs to learn today.  I know that many teach the need for miracles and signs has passed. I don’t believe this!  I believe the Lord longs for us to know his power.  He wants to shake out meeting places!  God has always wanted his people to believe that he will do what he says he will do.  Do we really believe this today?  Do we live this today?  Jesus and the apostles that followed him were not afraid to work the will of the Father.  We need to learn to not be afraid.  In one day, 5,000 were added to the number of believers. How long has it been since 5,000 people flocked to your place of meeting to come to know Christ?  What has happened?

Have we let the fear of the world overtake us?  Are we scared to share Jesus in the workplace, in the stores, on the streetcorners, or wherever we might be at the time?  What would happen in this world today if ALL believers were to rise in this boldness and to speak loudly the word of God, healing and performing miracles as they go?  How would this world change?  How would your church change?  How would your life change?   In reading this passage I was reminded of a part of a song by Carman.  It says, “Fear not, this lions gonna roar.  Cause this sleeping giant called the church is rising up in power.”  How long has it been since you roared for Jesus?  Come on church! Wake up!!  I know the Lord is calling us all to wake up.  He is calling us all to realize that we are his people.  He is telling us that we are each one a priest.  He is telling us the gifts of the Holy Spirit are alive and well this day.  He longs for us to walk in the power and the authority of the Lord Jesus.  He longs to shake the meeting places again with the power of the Holy Spirit!

Father, shake the meeting place here, in Jesus name.  Father, I ask that this night you shake the meeting in the Blood of Jesus room.  I ask in the name of Jesus that you do for us what you did for the believers here.  Lord, in Jesus name, you are the one who created the earth, the sky, the sea and all that is in them.  You are the Great I Am.  You are the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.   You are Jehovah.  In Jesus name, you show us how to walk in this boldness, in this power, in this authority.  In Jesus name use us to shake this world by the power and the authority of the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.  Father, in Jesus name use this message to call us to wake!  In the name of this same Jesus, send this message to the meeting places and the leaders therein.  Lord, let us slumber no longer.  Call us to this unity that will bring the return of Christ and the end to this age.  In Jesus name, you use me in all ways you see fit, amen!
