Our Defender and Protector

Like a lion coming up from Jordan’s thickets to a rich pastureland, I will chase Babylon from its land in an instant.  Who is the chosen one I will appoint for this?  Who is like me and who can challenge me?  Therefore, hear what the Lord has planned against Babylon, what he has purposed against the land of the Babylonians:  The young of the flock will be dragged away; he will completely destroy their pasture because of them.  At the sound of Babylon’s capture the earth will tremble; its cry will resound among the nations.  Jeremiah 50:44-46

Look around you and what do you see?  I see that same spirit of Babylon all around me.  I see it even in the very cartoons our children watch.  What of this spirit of Babylon that threatens us?  The Lord says he shall chase it away in an instant.  What does he wait on?  He waits on us to be willing and ready to be rid of it.  Why is that spirit so prevalent, not just in the world, but in God’s people?  It is there because we want it there!  We have invited it to come and dwell.  We practice witchcraft in the churches, in our homes and in the lives of those around us.  We worship other gods.  We seek after money rather than the Lord.  When we are pressed in all around, what do we need?  We need to understand and to believe the Lord will deliver us from Babylon!  He is with us all the way.  The wealth of the wicked is a wealth that shall pass away.

The Lord shall not leave you unprotected.  He shall not leave you like an unprotected sheep among wolves.  He has provided a way out for you, if you are trapped in a lifestyle of sin.  After all, if you have Jesus, the bars have fallen off the cages, the shackles are loosed and the only thing that holds you captive is you!  You are holding the bars in place.  You are holding the shackles upon your hands and feet.  The Lord longs to set us free from the bonds of Babylon.  He longs for us to come into his presence that he can utterly destroy Babylon.

Jesus is coming again church.  It could be tonight.  I could be a long ways off in years.  However, this we know!  He IS coming!  He shall utterly destroy all of Babylon.  The earth shall reverberate this destruction.  Are we ready?  Are we still a part of Babylon or are we called out and set apart to be spared this destruction?  Live this day as if he were coming this moment!  He is coming!  Babylon shall be no more and we shall dwell forever in the presence of the Lord!

Father, in Jesus name, prepare us for the fall of Babylon.  Lord, make us ready for the return of the Lord Jesus.  Father, make us pure and holy in Jesus.  Fill us with your glory.  Lord, for the sake of your name, come and destroy Babylon and carry us into the place where we have treasures stored that shall not be destroyed.  Lord, purify us that only you remain.  Make clear the way of the Lord, in Jesus name, amen!
