A Prophet
without Honor
Jesus left there and went to his hometown,
accompanied by his disciples. When
the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard
him were amazed.
“Where did this man get these things?” they
asked. “What’s this
wisdom that has been given him, that he even does miracles!
Isn’t this the carpenter?
Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph,
Judas, and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown, among
his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor.”
He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few
sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith.
Mark 6:1-6 (NIV)
Jesus knew the murmurings of the crowd in his
hometown. He knew their
thoughts. He knew what they
thought of him. Look at his
eyes, yet again. Do you see
the disappointment? He, in
the place he had called home for so long, was unappreciated.
He had no honor in his hometown.
In fact, he could not even do the miracles there that had been
being done throughout the land. Why?
They had no faith! Without
faith, even the hands of the Lord were tied.
Without faith, he is not able to do in our lives what he so longs
to do. We must believe that
he is the true Lord. Only
in truly believing can there be the workings that he longs to work.
Do you believe?
What about the way you are viewed in your home?
Does your family misunderstand the calling of the Lord that is
upon you? Are you
struggling to walk in the faith you are called to walk because of those
around you? How do you look
at those of faith around you? Do
you hinder the work of the Lord in their life because of the way you
look at them? We must guard
carefully against what those in Jesus hometown did.
We must not be guilty of hindering the work of the Lord because
we know that Sam, Mary or John did this or that in their youth.
We must look at each other with the eyes of the Lord. We must see the work in their life and loose the power.
The church, the place the Lord calls home, must see that is has
the faith needed to allow him to work.
We must begin to dig in his word and see that he is the same
yesterday, today and tomorrow. We must begin to live the walk of faith and power.
We are allowing satan to have victory when Jesus said he has
already won! Come!
Church, rise to your feet, fall on your knees, look to the Lord
and quit believing the gifts of the Lord are dead! They are not dead.
They only sleep because we have chosen to not walk in them. Rise to your feet, church!!
Walk in the power of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Father, you have on my heart this message for the
body of Christ, called the church.
We have walked too long in unbelief.
Father, forgive us. Lord,
I take the sins of all the body and carry them to you, begging you to
cleanse us. Lord, I see why
so many are drawn to the power of the occult today.
The power of the spirit is real and as a body, we have been lied
to and we lie to others in return.
Lord, I beg of you to have mercy on each one of us.
Lord in Jesus name you bring your church to the power in which we
are called to walk. Lord,
in Jesus name, give us a new measure of faith, a new measure of power, a
fresh look at the Lord, and restore us to our first love, amen!!
