Be Saved from this Perverse Generation Then Peter said to them, “Repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children’s children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” Acts 2:38-40 (NKJV) You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. Deuteronomy 32:4-6 (NIV) I have wondered at the powerlessness of this generation of believers and many generations before us. I believe the Lord has the answer in his word. We have a choice to make. Jesus said he came to fulfill the law. The law says the sins of the parents pass to the children. Generational curses are what they are known as. Now, when I first read the law, I thought this left us without hope. I proclaim to you today, we do not have to pass curses from generation to generation. All it takes is one who is willing to be made new in Christ Jesus, to serve him, to be made holy by the blood of the Lamb, and to choose to let the Lord pass the blessings from generation to generation. We can be saved from the perverse generation on which those curses lay. We can choose to let the Lord cleanse us from sin, ourselves and the generations before and the generations to come, should the Lord tarry. Be willing to confess the sins of those before you. Be willing to take a close inventory of your sin. Ask the Lord to cleanse you. Ask the Lord to save you from this perverse generation. This is a promise, that the love of the Lord shall pass to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. We have been lied to. Reject that lie. Refuse to believe any longer that we serve a powerless God. Walk the path the Lord has called you to walk, with your head up, in the knowledge that you are cleansed and forgiven. Claim this forgiveness to pass to your children. Boldly make the statement that as for you and your household, you will serve the Lord. Pass the legacy of the love of God to your physical children and your spiritual children through the cleansing of remission of sins and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit. Wait, it says gift. It does not say gifts. The Holy Spirit is THE gift from God that then empowers us, the body of believers, to walk in the GIFTS of or from the Holy Spirit. Therefore, there is no need of offices as there were in the days of old, but rather, all believers are gifted according to the will of the Father through the Holy Spirit. Are we ready to receive what the word of God promises? As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord! Father, this day cleanse me and my household from the sins of the generations that were before me. Lord, according to your word, cleanse me and let the love of God flow to my children, their children and to the thousand generations promised in your word. Lord, do not let the love grow cold. In Jesus name, keep my eyes fixed on the prize at the end of the race. Lord, present me to you, a bride, holy, and righteous and bring with me those whom I love. In Jesus name, you work in my household the good and perfect works of you, that we enter into the thousand years of love promised in your word, amen!
