Just a Man

Elijah was a man, just like us.  He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.   Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. James 5: 17-18

In the last couple of years, the Lord has spoken to me over and over that he longs for his children to have the spirit of Elijah.  In wondering and praying over this, I have come to the conclusion that he means for us to experience the power that Elijah had.  That power comes from the Holy Spirit.  We must allow the Lord to cleanse us so that we are one with him.  We must be willing to allow him to show us those things that we have never believed could be true.  There is true power in the name of Jesus and yet, we do not see this power as a whole.  It is time for his bride to wake up and to walk in that calling.  Elijah walked so closely with the Lord that one day, the Lord sent chariots of fire to take him to be with the Lord.  That is the closeness the Lord desires for us to have with him.

I have often wondered if that is what is holding back the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Is it that we have not learned to walk with him that closely?  Am I the one keeping him from returning?  Let us learn to walk that closely with the Lord!

Father, in Jesus name, you teach us what it means to have that spirit of Elijah.  Lord, draw us close to you.  Father, in Jesus name I long to be that close, that I would never have to taste death.  Lord, in Jesus name, you help me to teach others what it means to be like Jesus and to walk that closely with him.  Lord do not let me hold back the return of Jesus.  In Jesus name, let me know that power of the Holy Spirit, amen.
