The New Wine

Wake up you drunkards, and weep!  Wail, all you drinkers of wine; wail because of the new wine, for it has been snatched from your lips.  Joel 1:5 (NIV)

But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine.  Acts 2:13 (ASV)

Do not be drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.  Instead, be filled with the Spirit.  Ephesians 5:18 (NIV)

All through the Old and New Testament, we find reference to wine, old and new.  The new wine is the filling of the Holy Spirit.  Now, if the new wine has been snatched from our lips, then how is it that we are drunk?  What has happened to that filling that led the onlookers in the book of Acts to say that the believers were filled with too much wine?  What wine do we drink of today?  Should it not be that new wine?  However, it seems that everywhere we look, we drink of the old wine, that wine of Babylon.  This wine leads to death.  This wine leads to judgment.  Church, it is time to take Babylon out of our churches, out of our lives, out of everything of God and to let the new wine flow!  We have allowed the new wine to be snatched from us.  We must not continue to allow this.  We must not continue in the drunkenness of Babylon.  We must be pure and holy.  The new wine must go in new wineskins or the old skins burst.  If the skins burst, the wine pours forth onto the ground and the wine is wasted!

Are we allowing the wine to be poured onto the ground and to be wasted?  I say that yes, we are!  Where is that filling of the Holy Spirit?  Come on believers, let the Lord fill you with his Spirit.  Seek him, ask him, do not let go until the new wine has been restored unto your lips.  Let that new wine cleanse your speech, you mind, you heart, your body.  When the Samaritan was wounded, oil and new wine was applied to his wounds.  We are wounded.  We are in fact the walking wounded.  Let the Lord apply that oil and new wine unto us.  Let him begin to restore to the church the new wine.

Father, I cannot seem to express how much we have lost in allowing the new wine to be removed from our lips.  Lord, teach us to sing, to shout, to praise you, to let the new wine be restored to us.  Lord, in Jesus name, let not the new wine be stolen any longer.  Father, I fall and I beg of you, your forgiveness.  Lord in Jesus name you bring your bride unto you.  In Jesus name, forgive us for partaking in that wine of Babylon.  Remove that thirst for the wine of Babylon from us.  In Jesus name let us thirst for the new wine, amen Lord and amen!
