The Judge is at the Door

Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near. Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!

James 5:7-9 (NIV)

It is so hard to be patient.  We long to see the return of the Lord, and yet, we become like the brides who did not keep their lamps lit.  When a farmer plants, he does not worry.  He knows that the Lord will bring forth the crop.  He knows he cannot rush the harvest.  We are to learn to wait as the farmer waits.  There is a rain coming.  This rain is a rain like we have never before experienced on this earth.  God is pouring forth his spirit upon his people.  He is pouring out his power to those who are willing to experience it.  He wants us to look to the east.  Jesus is coming!!  Do not lose heart.  He is coming!  Let us learn to live in the unity for which Christ prayed.  Let us stop grumbling and complaining.   Many times the Israelites grumbled when wandering in the wilderness.  That grumbling led to many more years of wandering.

How long do we want to wander in the wilderness?  I do not want to walk there any longer.  I long to learn what it means to live life to the fullest.  I long to learn what it means to judge myself in Jesus on this earth that the Judge not have to hold me in judgment in eternity.  I trust Jesus to fill me with his spirit, that Holy Spirit.  Are you willing to let go of the teachings of man?  Are you willing to learn to look for the return of the Lord?  Are you willing to stand firm on the word of the Lord?  Jesus is coming.  He is coming to judge the world.  We must be patient as we wait his coming.  We must stand firm.   Forget the quabbles over when or where.  He could very well come before this devotional goes out.  Jesus is coming.  That should be our focus, to learn to walk as Jesus walked, preparing for his return.  Let us learn to walk a life of victory in Jesus.

Father forgive me when I do not look continually for the return of Jesus.  Lord, in Jesus name let me learn to be like the farmer.  Father, I know that your word says that Jesus is coming.  Help me to rest in this and to learn to live the life of the overcomer that your word says I am to be.  Father, help me to have faith, knowing that when the time is full, you shall send Jesus!  Lord, in Jesus name, you keep my lamp burning.  Do not let me burn out or be one who falls away.  Jesus, hold on to me!!  In the name of the blessed Savior I pray, amen!
