They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came upon men and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats. But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not. And the gnats were on men and animals. The magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” Exodus 8:17-19a (NIV)
But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen, where my people live; no swarms of flies will be there, so that you will know that I, the Lord, am in this land. I will make a distinction between my people and your people. Exodus 8:22-23a (NIV)
They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only the people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. Revelation 9:4 (NIV)
There is a point which the powers of evil can in no way match the powers of the Lord God of our Forefathers. The magicians were not able to produce the gnats. The gnats covered the land, and notice, the magicians knew that this plague was from God. They even told the Pharaoh this. Evil knows the hand of God. It knows it better than you or I in that it knows the fate of satan and that Jesus is the victor. Notice in the plague of flies that a difference came in the way the Lord was dealing with those in the land of Egypt. Until this point, the plagues came upon Jew and Gentile alike. Until this point, the plagues touched the people of God and the people of Egypt. However, this was the turning point. At this point, the plagues no longer harmed the people of God.
Now, move forward in time. In the book of the Revelation, there comes a time when the plagues will no longer be able to harm the people of God. The angels seal us and the plagues must pass over. That is power!! Do you have the seal of God on your forehead? Is the blood on the doorpost of your heart? The blood of Jesus must cover each one of us. Have you been bought with the blood? Have you given yourself totally over to the Lord Jesus Christ? Without selling out to him, you cannot experience the power that only comes from him. Have you begun to experience the power of God? If not, ask him to begin to teach you to walk in his power.
Father, I praise you that the angels seal me. Lord, in Jesus name, I ask that you cover me with the blood of Jesus. Jesus I am yours, totally completely yours. I beg of you to teach me to walk in the power of that calling. In Jesus name I praise you that I have the faith and the security that the angel of death will pass over and that the plagues sent upon the earth cannot harm me. I praise your name for your power. In Jesus name, I give you all the glory, honor, praise and power for you alone are worthy, amen.
