Triumph in Truth Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father, seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am me.” John 4:21-16 (NIV) Look once again at the Savior’s eyes. What do you see? Triumph! The time has come! The time is now. We are called to worship in spirit and in truth. Do you see what he said? When you look at that last statement, there are two words there that say so much. Those two words are simply, “I am.” Who is this Jesus? He is the great I Am. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He is God. Look at the eyes of God as he looked at this outcast. He tells her of triumph and the call to worship. He tells her God has come to earth and is speaking to her. Now, we are not told her response to this. However, what is yours? This same Jesus is the Creator of all things that were created. He tells you that you are called to worship in spirit and in truth. This same Jesus says that he has overcome the world! What hope does this passage hold for you? He did not leave this woman in shame. He, Creator God, Almighty, I Am, spoke to her, both a Samaritan and a woman. No matter what is the nature of you sin, it is not too great for this Savior. He longs for you to worship in spirit and in truth. When does he want you to do this? The time has come! It is now. Come! Worship the Lord!! Father, I praise your name that you do not leave us in our shame. I praise you that you, the great I Am have made a way for us to worship you in spirit and in truth. I praise you that the time is now and we don’t have to wait for some far off distant, unknown time. Father, teach us to walk in that knowledge. Lord in Jesus name, we praise you, amen!!
