They will flee to the caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from dread of the Lord and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.  Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils.  Of what account is he?  Isaiah 2:21-22 (NIV)

In that day the Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel.  Those who are left in Zion, who remain in Jerusalem, will be called holy, all who are recorded among the living in Jerusalem.  The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire.  Then the Lord will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory will be a canopy.  It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.  Isaiah 4:2-6 (NIV)

And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.  It shone with the glory of God and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.  Revelation 21:10-11 (NIV)

For those without Jesus, the day of the Lord shall be dreadful.  They shall flee to the caves to hide; yet they will not be able to hide.  Why do we trust in man or put our hope in one who is human?  They can but fail us.  That is the nature of man.  However, when we put our trust in Jesus, we are called holy.  Through Jesus the filth is washed away.  Through Jesus our needs are met.  Through Jesus we are washed clean.  Through Jesus we have the covering of the glory of the Lord.  The rock of Mount Zion is Jesus.  There we stand in the holy city, the New Jerusalem.  Jesus is our shelter, our refuge, and our hiding place.  He is our hope.  Not man, Jesus.  Put all your faith, hope and trust in Jesus.  Believe what he says.  Turn to him and to him alone.  Trust Jesus.  We are bound for the Holy City.  That is our home eternal.  We are sheltered and comforted by the glory of God on Mount Zion.  He is the glory.  Jesus!!!

Father, I thank you for the contrast of what comes with the day of the Lord and I praise your name that I shall stand in the Holy City, in the glory of God.  I praise you that you have washed my sins away.  I praise you that you have called me to Mount Zion, the mountain of grace.  I praise you that you are the one who keeps me there.  I praise you that nothing depends upon me, but upon you and your faithfulness.  I praise you that I need not trust in man, but in you and you alone.  In Jesus name, thank you that you are trustworthy and you cannot lie.  In Jesus name, I thank you that your glory shines like a light in a dark world.  Thank you, Jesus.  Amen
