Behavior: Magic or Sorcery Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. I Corinthians 6:9-10 (NIV) Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: Neither fornicators, nor idolators, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. I Corinthians 6:9-10 (KJV) The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21 (NIV) Now the works of the flesh are manifest which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21 (KJV) But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars-their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death. Revelation 21:8 (NIV) But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:8 (KJV)
The last thing that we shall inventory is how, when, and why we engage in sorcery or magic. Now, before you go saying that you have never done these things, we must look at what sorcery and magic truly are. Of course, we know that some of magic is to use spells, curses, hexes, and things such as these as a result of practicing the art of magic. However, magic is not just this. Sorcery or magic is based in the premise of manipulation, to bring about something by saying, doing or engaging in things to bring about a desired result. When you look at magic and sorcery in this light, it becomes clearer that each of us is guilty. Have you ever engaged in the use of a Quija Board? Describe the time, your actions, attitudes and feelings and what happened as a result. Have you ever taken part in a séance? Describe the actions, attitudes, feelings, and motives and such as a result of this and that led you to do this. I know that many of us, as children, attempted séances, not knowing they were harmful. Have you ever engaged in witchcraft through things such as Wicca, Eastern Religions, Yoga, incantations, spells, rituals, “secret vows,” role playing games (such as Dungeons and Dragons), voodoo, martial arts, tattoos, piercing, horoscopes, astrology, potions, totem poles, dream catchers, other Indian “spiritual things,” psychics, mediums, astral projection, conjuring demons, mind control, hypnosis, open-minded meditation, chants, mantras, or things such as this? This listing is far from a complete listing. However, you get the idea. If you have engaged in such things, list any and all ways in which you have engaged in magic or the magic arts. Have you ever been involved in a cult of any kind? This includes any “religious order.” This also includes any and all groups that deny the deity of Christ, require that you engage in certain behaviors to be “set free” from sin, any “religious organization” that is not based on the truth of the Holy Scripture we call the Bible, any “religious organization” that claims to be the only way to heaven or to have had a special “revelation from God” that is not in alignment with scripture, clubs, fraternities, sororities, and things such as this. List all those involvements here. What suppositious behaviors do you, or have you ever, engaged in? Include here things such as charms, wishbones, medals, throwing salt over your back, rabbit’s foot, crossing your fingers, and things such as this. If you have had extensive experience in the magic arts, you will find that this page does not meet your needs. However, there are many excellent churches, fellowships, and other means of finding the help you need to break free from that bondage. Please, feel free to email me and we will find you some help. Now, the things we just covered are many of the things that most people associate with witchcraft. However, it does not end here. Now we come to the part that none of us wants to hear or admit. The listings that follow all come under the heading of magic and sorcery. Have you ever manipulated another person or circumstance to get a desired result, even if that manipulation failed? Describe the ways in which you engage in manipulating others, including God. List here the times and ways you have “bargained” with God. Since I am unsure how to word this one, I will give an example and then you can follow the lead. In our churches, we often practice magic. We do things such as sing songs in a certain order so that that Holy Spirit will come. We do things such as ask someone to come and sing a certain song, without regard to the leading of the Spirit, in order to produce a certain result. In our churches, we often manipulate situations, people and order in such a way as to try to get God to enter when we want him, how we want him and the way we want him. List any way you have practiced this form of manipulation. Have you ever engaged in flirtatious behavior? Believe it or not, this is a form of witchcraft. It is being an enchantress. List any way in which you have behaved in such a manner. Have you ever used words or actions to get someone to do something they might not have done had you approached them in a different manner? Have you used flattery to get what you want? Describe those behaviors here.
Father, this page goes so much deeper than we realize. Lord, for the sake of your name, lead each person here to truly examine the ways in which he or she has practiced witchcraft. Father, in Jesus name we praise you that you have the power over these things. We bow before you to ask that you test our hearts, show us where we are in error, and to lead us to the truth of that which we have done. In Jesus name, I praise you that you are willing to show us that truth, amen.
