Rejection And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. I Samuel 8:7 (NIV) He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Isaiah 53:3 (NIV) Rejection has played a major role in my life. I have come to realize that many of my troubles began with lie of satan that I was not loved. He made me to believe that I was unwanted and rejected by all peoples for all times. He even made me believe that even the Lord had rejected me. Each of us has issues of rejection in our lives. Sometimes, it truly helps to trace back to that original lie of satan. That way we can see that rejection is a lie and is not true. Describe every circumstance, within your memory, in which you felt rejected. Give details to the very best of your ability. Find the earliest detail and examine it for the first lie of satan that could have caused you to begin to feel rejected. Make note of that here. Take the list you have made and tell how you set yourself up to feel rejected. Did you behave in an uncomely manner? What was your place in the circumstance that led to you feeling rejected? In what way has the feeling or the fear of rejection kept you distanced from people? How has that feeling of rejection affected your relationships with others and with God? Has fear of rejection or the desire for emotional security ever led you to remain in an abusive relationship or caused you to be abusive to another? Describe. Father, in Jesus name let us truly examine our part in the wrongs in our lives. Father, in Jesus name, you lead us to this path where healing is found. In Jesus name, reveal that original lie of satan. Father, let us be honest and truthful, neither adding nor taking away. Let us learn to use this, not as a time to criticize others around us, but as a time of examining ourselves. In Jesus name, I praise you that you are with us as we seek to learn truth and take stock of the things good and bad within ourselves, amen. All rights reserved: Amy Seelbach
