Little Andy Talks with God

If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 1 Corinthians 3:15

Jonah an the Big Fish

Hi there, Mr. God.
I heard 'nother story, taday,
'Bout a man who was Jonah;
From a long time ago an far, far, away.

Ya told him ta go ta some place
An he didn't wanna go.
So, he runned somewhere's else,
'Cause he thought ya wouldn't know.

It was a place with a funny name,
I guess where all the people were bad.
An Jonah was s'pose ta tell the king
Ta be sorry 'cause they made ya sad.

So, Mr. God, teacher said he went
On a boat an runned away.
But, she said a storm came by,
'Cause he didn't do what you say.

Then, he knowed he did wrong
An he fell off the boat.
Teacher read it all
From the Bible book ya wrote.

Well, when he fell out,
A great big fish came along
an ate him all up;
'Cause he did somethin' wrong.

Teacher said he got ta the belly.
It was full of weeds an stuff all icky.
It smelled awful bad, she said,
An he got all sticky.

Well, I guess he got sorry an
He prayed an prayed, an prayed;
'Cause he didn't like that fish, at all,
Where ya made him stay.

Then, you got un-mad (didn't ya)
An made the fish burp him out.
It must'a been the biggest fish in the world,
That any one knowed 'bout.

Mr. God, where did that big fish go?
Is he in SeaWorld or in the ocean?
If someone catched him,
Would they know he was the one?

Maybe Jonah left a note, or somethin',
In the belly, somewhere,
Ta let the next bad man
Know that he was there.

Was it a kind'a fish
That would eat a kid like me,
For being bad like Jonah?
He was really bad, wasn't he?

I try hard ta be what's good,
Mr. God. I really do.
But, sometimes, I forget.
Does that make me like Jonah, too?

Teacher said that Jonah went ta the place
Where ya telled him ta go
An they telled ever one they were sorry
'Cause, now, he let them know.

I'll go where ya want me to
An be as good as I can be.
I wanna grow up ta be really nice,
So ya won't stop lovin' me.

Thank you for your Bible book.
I jest wish I could read.
Daddy says it's all a'ficient
For ever need.

I don't un'erstand that.
But, daddy says it's true
An daddy should know (shouldn't he?),
'Cause he works for you.

Well, I gotta go,
Mr. God. I'll see ya later.
Tell ever one 'hello' for me,
From their best buddy, little Andy.
