Little Andy Talks with God

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Mr. God, Abigail is Missing

Mr. God ... Mr. God,
Were ya sleeping, Sir?
Somethin' really bad happened, taday.
Abigail is gone. Somethin' happened ta her.

She was comin' home from school
An she never got ta there.
Daddy says someone taked her
An people are lookin' just ever where.

Did ya see her?
Daddy says you knowed ever thing an
He said the mean man might want money;
An their waitin' for the phone ta ring.

Mr. God, if'n ya got her
('Cause daddy says she could be with you),
Tell her ta call ta home, right now,
'Cause her momma's really worried, too.

Her momma's cryin' real hard,
Ever time someone says her name
An that it's dark an so cold;
An now, it's beginning to rain.

Some policemans were here an asked
Daddy ta get men from the con-a-gation
An could they meet him
Down at the policeman's station.

Ever body's cryin' an daddy is a prayin',
An momma's holdin' tight to lil' sis an me.
I tolded a fib an said, "I gotta go ta the bathroom,"
So she would let me free.

But, Mr. God, I wasn't goin' out.
I don't play outside after it's not day.
Some of the other's mommas, from the church,
Have gone ta Abigail's house ta stay.

Where's she at, Mr. God?
Who tooked her? I'm scared, too.
Mamma, she says, "If that would happen to us,
Mercy, what would we do?"

Abigail is a real nice girl, really she is.
She's kinda pretty, for a girl, an shares her toys.
She's not mean or anything.
She likes all us girls an boys.

Why'd someone taked her, Mr. God?
Did they just want a little girl of their own?
The policemans are lookin' under rocks, ever where.
He said, "Under ever stone."

I heard 'em tell daddy
They are lookin' ever where for her.
I got some rocks in my little garden, out back.
I told 'em they could look out there, for sure.

I wished I knowed how ta pray,
'Cause daddy says that that's the best thing.
An there's some big dogs outside, someone brought
From the woods; where they finded Abigail's ring.

Ya suppose, like Hansel an Gretel did,
She dropped it ta find her way back?
Momma says she's real smart, like a tack.

Please, Mr. God, if'n ya knowed,
Tell 'er ever ones waitin' here for her.
Make that stealer person bring 'er back.
Bring her, tanight, for sure.

Well, Mr. God, I gotta go.
If'n I knew how ta pray, I would.
If you're listenin' anyway,
Send her home if ya could.

Please, look out for lil' sis an all us kids,
An tell Jesus an his mommy 'hi'.
Momma's callin' so, gotta hurry.
It's me, little Andy, sayin' 'bye'.

Dedicated to missing children,
one from our area, now, for many years;
Trudy Applebee, from East Moline, Illinois.

Mr. God,
Please, from little Andy and me,
Send them home. We're still waiting.
Amen.

Little girls play'n dolls,
Little faces with joy are kissed.
But, gone in the twinkling of an eye,
Broken hearts wait. They are sorely missed.
