Little Andy Talks with God

Mr. God, Can I Have a Puppy?
Hi, Mr. God.
I wanna talk ta you, taday.
I've been wishin' for a puppy.
Do ya think there is a way?
Momma says she's not sure we should
'Cause we live in your house, now,
An we gotta ask the other people.
Daddy said that sister Letty will have a cow.
I'm not askin' for a cow, Mr. God.
I jest want a little puppy
An I would take real good care of him;
An he'd have lots of love, with sis an me.
Momma says we gotta pray 'bout that
'Cause it's not like where we lived a'fore.
We gotta keep things better clean an
A puppy might mess things up a lot more.
O, please, Mr. God,
Could ya send one that's not sloppy?
Can you talk ta daddy an momma,
An tell them what a good puppy sitter I'd be?
An, I'd watch him real close,
So he won't mess on the floor,
An I'd pick up the papers an stuff ~
An the things he tore.
Lil' sis makes lots of messes. But, momma
Didn't ask the other people if we could keep her.
Why is a puppy differ'nt, Mr. God?
A puppy won't have stinky diapers. That's for sure.
An I would share him with lil' sis,
As long as she didn't hurt him.
She doesn't mean ta be bad, ya know.
I'd love any puppy that ya send.
I saw some doggies
At the animal jail.
They was sad 'cause no one loved 'em,
An one had lost his tail.
Shouldn't people be nice ta animals
'Cause ya made them, too?
But, Mr. God, some was really sick an
Daddy said one was going ta be in heaven, with you.
Please, Mr. God, make 'em well
An send me jest one.
I love lil' sis. But,
A puppy would be more fun.
Well, Mr. God, I gotta go.
It's time for lunch.
Tell Jesus an his mommy I said, "Hi," an,
Mr. God, I love ya a whole big bunch.
Bye, from little Andy.
