The Baby
Hi there, Mr. God.
It's me, little Andy, again.
I'm really worried
About a gift you're gonna send.
Mommy says were 'spect'n.
It's something about a new baby.
I dunno as I will like that.
What if they love her more then me, maybe?
They say I'll be a big brother, now,
An I'll need to help a lot. O, great!
Mr. God, will it be alright?
Do you think they will still love me?
I'm really scared; don't want ta change.
I like things just like they are.
An mommy says, with the baby coming,
We can't buy our new car.
Why is that, Mr. God?
Will the baby hurt the car or somthin'?
I seen a baby, yes'erday,
An it didn't look like much fun.
What they saw in it I sure dunno.
Why, he couldn't walk or anything, but spit up,
An, when he smiled, his teeth didn't show.
Momma an Daddy are happy.
They smile an talk about little girl names.
Now, Mr. God, do I have ta share my toys
With her an play girlie games?
Momma says she's a gift from you.
Is that true, Mr. God?
Is she my present, too?
Well, Mr. God, I gotta go.
I sure hope she won't cry a lot an stuff.
Maybe you can make her nice
An help me love her, just enough.
Momma an Daddy says the baby
Is an answer to a prayer an wish.
Next time, Mr. God, please ~
I would rather have a new goldfish!
Thanks anyway.
