Uncle Eddie
Good mornin', Mr. God.
Are ya waked up, yet?
It's me, little Andy, an I was a wonderin',
Do ya get the same news we get?
Did you hear, we're at war? Daddy says;
An, now, I am so scared.
What if the bad guys come here.
Daddy says we gotta get a'pared.
I dunno what to do.
You see, I'm jest a little guy
An I haven't got ta live very long;
An, now, maybe we will all die.
I don't un'erstand why people get so mean.
Do they know who you are?
Momma says its way ~ somewhere else.
But, Mr. God, how far?
I will try ta be brave, for Momma an little sis.
I got my baseball bat by my door.
I jest hope I can beat 'em up,
So they won't come back no more.
I seen some soldiers
On the TV, comin' home.
Momma says Uncle Eddie is goin' there
An she was cryin' on the phone.
She told him ta trust you, Mr. God,
An that you was goin' with him.
If'n you're goin', too, Sir,
When will we get ta talk again?
But, if ya gotta go,
Take care of yourself. Ok?
Daddy an I will take care of things, down here,
While you an Uncle Eddie are away.
I s'pose Jesus will look after things, up there,
An put the moon an stars all out
'Til ya get back from over there.
He knows what things are about.
Oh, Mr. God, don't get hurt
or nut'in else, please,
'Cause Momma loves ya both, a lot, an
She says Uncle Eddie is a big o' tease.
Well, I gotta go.
Uncle Eddie's comin' over for some lunch.
I s'pose ya gotta go an pack, an stuff.
I jest wanted ta say I love ya, a bunch.
If Jesus needs any help,
While you're goin' off ta fight,
Tell him to jest call me
A'fore I go ta bed at night.
I hope you can make the war stop
'Cause I'm scared, a whole lot.
Well, I'll see ya later, Mr. God.
Let me know if ya need some help or not.
Bye, for now.
