Apostleship

Blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. Matthew 13:16
A Sure
Election

Apostles have prior training in discipleship.

The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. Luke 6:40 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:35

However, not all disciples become apostles.

Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 1 Corinthians 12:29

Apostles are not selected by chance, popular vote, or even by man's fruit inspection; but are chosen ...

He called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles. Luke 6:13

as further conditions have to be met.

He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? Luke 16:10a-12
We have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ. Romans 1:3-6
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. Hebrews 3:1-3

They are Divinely elected according to who has the heart for it.

... an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God. 1 Corinthians 1:1b

Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen. Acts 1:24

Twelve are ordained ...

He ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils. Mark 3:14-15

and more are appointed.

Paul was appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 2 Timothy 1:11

And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 1 Corinthians 12:6
The Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Luke 10:1
Exact no more than that which is appointed you. Luke 3:13
And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. Luke 10:17

Traits of an Apostle

Apostles are seekers of victory living.

The apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. Luke 17:5

They are not ignorant of scripture ...

Have we not power to eat and to drink? 1 Corinthians 9:4

but follow the path of their calling.

But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles). Galatians 2:7-8

All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. Psalm 25:10
Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers: And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name. Romans 15:8-9

Apostles may rebel against works of the flesh ...

Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working? 1 Corinthians 9:6

as their direction comes via the Holy Ghost.

Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? 1 Corinthians 9:7a

He through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he hath chosen. Acts 1:2

They lead others as well as each other ...

Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? 1 Corinthians 9:5

and their labour is to work with their own hands.

For we write none other things unto you, than what ye read or acknowledge. 2 Corinthians 1:13b

Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. 2 Corinthians 3:2-3

Plus, they bring their skills to the table ...

There are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 1 Corinthians 12:5

Example: 1.) Paul built the tent of the congregation. 2.) Peter fished for men.

and serve to the extent their ministry is welcomed.

If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you. 1 Corinthians 9:2a

Bleatings of their Heart

Apostles suffer the effects of prison ...

The high priest, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. Acts 5:17-18
There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men: A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease. Ecclesiastics 6:1-2
Wherein their only place of fellowship may be where two or three are gathered together.

Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day. 1 Corinthians 4:11-13

Even so, an apostle's ministry springs from their own passions ...

Who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? 1 Corinthians 9:7b-8

and they encourage others to do likewise.

Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. 1 Corinthians 9:13-14

For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. 1 Corinthians 9:10

Apostles are Holy Jerusalem builders.

Ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

For the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. John 4:23 And he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. Romans 2:29
Enmity between thee and the woman ... Genesis 3:15
He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. Ephesians 2:12-22

And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. Revelation 21:14 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. Hebrews 11:10

The foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 2 Timothy 2:19

Signs of an Apostle

Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds. 2 Corinthians 12:12

Patience:

We glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 5:3-5

Wonders:

I will shew wonders in the heavens. Joel 2:30, Acts 2:19

Know this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished. 2 Peter 3:3-6

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 2 Peter 3:7 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. Matthew 11:12

And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein; And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe. Ezekiel 2:9-10

And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? Revelation 6:14-17
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 1 Corinthians 10:11

For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. Isaiah 66:2 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Psalm 16:10

All the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll. Isaiah 34:4 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.

There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.

They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them. And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord. Isaiah 65:17-25

We know that we have passed from death
unto life, because we love the brethren. He
that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

1 John 3:14

Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. Hebrews 8:1-2 and the heavens do rule. Daniel 4:26

The heavens are the works of thine hands. Hebrews 1:10c And the whole earth is full of his glory. Isaiah 6:3c (We are ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation. Hebrews 1:14a) Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2 Corinthians 3:17

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. Revelation 21:1

Signs:

Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion. Isaiah 8:18 For the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. Luke 16:8

And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. 1 Corinthians 13:1-8, 13
and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. Mark 9:36-37 And, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein. Luke 18:17 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. 1 Corinthians 4:20

An apostle's doctrine is unity and equality.

By the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch. Acts 5:12 For he was wiser than all men. 1 Kings 4:31
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.

If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. For ye are the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:4-27
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. Acts 2:1 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And all that believed were together, and had all things common. Acts 2:42, 44

And they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? Acts 4:24-25

Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Philippians 2:2

Mighty Deeds:

He that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. John 3:21

The Seal of Apostleship

The seal of apostleship is that you are also in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 9:2b

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. Ephesians 5:8-10

Apostles make a covenant to holiness before true revelations begin.

It is revealed unto his holy apostles by the Spirit. Ephesians 3:5b

And if they have yet made that covenant, they can tell you what this verse really means.

Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel. Ephesians 3:6

Plus, stewards of such mysteries have already been found faithful.

Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:1-2

Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles. Luke 11:49a
Unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 1 Corinthians 1:24

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory. 1 Corinthians 2:7 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God. Ephesians 3:10

Their Limited Service

When Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money. Acts 8:18

For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. 1 Timothy 5:18

None-the-less, Apostles have already proved that money is not their motivation for ministry.

If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. 1 Corinthians 9:11-12

Neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness: Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ. But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children. 1 Thessalonians 2:5-7

Plus, apostles do not serve on demand.

As we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 2:4

Neither can they serve wherever the Spirit is quenched.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:21 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1 Corinthians 2:13

Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you. For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. 1 Corinthians 4:8-10

The Call to Restoration

The last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. Matthew 20:16 Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. Matthew 20:8b

Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. 1 Corinthians 3:8-9

Apostles are fathers ...

For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last ... for though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers. 1 Corinthians 4:9, 15

So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God. Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe: As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. 1 Thessalonians 2:8-12

for which Paul felt we needed warned.

I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. 1 Corinthians 4:14

Fathers, forgive the children.

Remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time. Jude 1:17-18a

Walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:1b-3 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Matthew 6:14

Children, fall into rank.

It is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Hebrews 6:4-6 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. Hebrews 10:26
He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers. Ephesians 4:11

Each is to serve, within their ministry, toward this common goal ...

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. Ephesians 4:12

For as long as it takes to get the job done ...

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. Ephesians 4:13

or, forever.

Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. Ephesians 6:6

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. 1 Peter 4:19 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. Isaiah 66:22 (Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1 Peter 1:23)

A Message to Apostles

Consider Paul's example.

I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them. Romans 11:13-14

Find where your ministry is welcomed.

Into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. Luke 10:5-6

Then, stay put.

And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. Luke 10:7 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24

Return to your first love ...

I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Do the first works. Revelation 2:2-4, 5b

Thereby helping others, so they can do the same.

Preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: as freely ye have received, that ye freely give. Matthew 10:7-8

Now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. Luke 22:36

And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords.
1.) Turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. Malachi 4:6 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation. Luke 11:50

2.) The nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. Revelation 11:18
And he said unto them, It is enough. Luke 22:38 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 1 Timothy 5:17

I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Matthew 10:16

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and
with power: who went about doing good, and healing all
that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Acts 10:38

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents
and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy:
and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Luke 10:19

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one
of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

Psalm 119:160

One generation passeth away, and another
generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.

Ecclesiastics 1:4

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6
