~ Counting Them Happy ~

Those Who Hope in the Lord

Seq. by Elton Smith
and Gilberto Barreto

"Take ... the ... prophets for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience ... we count them happy which endure." James 5 10-11

Lying spirits have used this passage to rob us of a victorious life. Any happiness you see is likely just a cover.

It is often thought we are to patiently endure whatever horrible things that come our way, to be victims of our circumstance. The only blessings we expect to see are in the life to come.

Occasionally, I have heard well intended people say, "We are never going to get through the trials of this life until we die."

I have this urge to respond, "Do not say that! IT IS NOT TRUE!" But, I also understand that they would not say it except they do not know.

The prophets were not victims. They suffered more because they went through all the issues of the inner man so they could come back and teach the people how to overcome. And, they did so holding on to the promises of God!

You can bet that, in each victorious adventure taken, the prophets were happy when all was said and done; in awe of what God had done for them. They believed God when He said we could be overcomers ... not only in the next life, but in this life, too. And, they were not disappointed.

The prophets suffered and endured (stayed the course), not because they liked it but, because they liked the end result. The end result is where they found happiness.

- The Way Things Really Are -

When you hear and digest all the news of the day
And you wade through the slant and the spin,
Just remember the One who will have the last say
When He deals with the wages of sin.

God made it quite clear, you have nothing to fear
If you trust Him and walk in His ways.
When your problems arise, seek Him who is wise
And give Him the honor and praise.

God pays no attention to status or rank;
Your age, or your color, or size.
The Ark just floated, but the Titanic sank.
Press on to the mark and the prize.

Here's a word of advice for some wonderful kids:
Stand tall and accomplish your goals.
Stay away from the things that the scripture forbids
And nourish your hearts and your souls.

To a mom or a dad, or a teacher or friend,
Your example pays off everyday.
Every kid will depend on the message you send,
If your life mirrors all that you say.

Be real and authentic, in all that you do.
Be faithful, courageous, and strong.
Embrace every thought that is solid and true;
Remember to Whom you belong.

For, now is your chance to do what is right;
To stretch, and to sparkle, and shine.
For, where you find darkness, just turn on the Light
And deliver a message divine.

The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense
of my life; whom shall I dread? Have I not
commanded you? Be strong and courageous!
Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord
your God is with you wherever you go.
