~ We are all children of the most High. ~
Psalm 82:6

Getting Kicked When You're Down

All By My Self
1993, HM
"If the Spirit is not what it once was, who moved?" Ever heard that one?
What about, "Go back to where you made a wrong turn and start from there?"
Or, this? "If you just believe enough, God will heal you."
And haven't we all heard this? "If you get things right, God will take care of your situation."
Or, this? "You must not be spending enough time with God."
What about this? "Well, if God did call you, He forgot to tell me."
Or, this? "Tears are not a sign of anything but emotionalism."
But, especially, this? "You just need to forgive and let go."
While any number of the above could prove helpful, on occasion; when it comes to determining where another's heart is, in their spiritual journey, who made you the judge?

~ Idle Words ~

To be condemned and sentenced
By someone that you adore,
To find your earnest efforts were
Received and used with scorn ...
I honor a vicious liar
Far more than the likes of these,
Who plunge the knife in deeper
When you're already on your knees.
I worry about their future, when
We stand before the throne,
When every idle word demands
An answer to God alone.
Oh, yes, there will be weeping.
But, I find no comfort in that.
My only solace comes when I
Remember He suffered attack.
All the good He did ~ and, then,
They taunted their lies about.
All the kindness that He always showed
Mattered not to stop the shout ...
Of "Crucify! Crucify!
Wipe from the face of the earth!"
The liars and scoffers repeated their scorn
And danced around in mirth.
Even when He marched through the regions of hell,
He didn't bring everyone out.
Still, the hard price paid was enough to save
Every one that will turn about.
It's such a joy to follow, when
He's leading and guiding the way,
But, be sure of your heart's motive,
For it can leads to a perfect day!
My heart hangs so very heavy
At the way our enemy blinds,
Hiding and lurking in shadows;
Playing games with people's minds ...
That aren't on guard ~ until we find
We fell for the devil's trick.
We're holding the knife and twisting it so;
What before would have made us sick.
So, my friend, remember that Jesus
Counts your hairs and the curl of your tongue.
Weigh every word ~ use caution,
Listen before you've begun.
For, in those final judgment scenes,
You want to be sure and true;
The fellow facing the Master of Love
Will be none else but you.

There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit;
neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge
in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.
Ecclesiastics 8:8

We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved. |
