ON THE RIGHT ROAD
I sometimes get homesick for Heaven
Where many friends have gone,
I long for their sweet smiles again,
Time seems to me so long.
My mother and dad have left me now
To join the heavenly band;
I long to hear their gentle voice,
And once more clasp their hands.
I long to see my Savior, dear,
Who died that I might live,
When on my knees I prayed one day,
My sins He did forgive.
I can't forget that gentle touch
When my Savior entered in;
I'm glad I love His dear sweet name
'Twas He who died for sin.
Let me just live my life for Him
That I may be a guide
To any sinner I meet here,
The light, I must not hide.
Dear sinner, you have loved ones there,
Who prayed and were forgiven;
Won't you forsake your wicked ways,
And meet with friends in Heaven?
The Christian does not seem so dear
To a sinner I do know;
Until the sinner sees the doom
That brings his pride quite low.
You must forsake the sinful ways,
And ask God to forgive,
If you expect a better home
And always there to live.
