Daddy,
A big man with a big heart.

Lawrence Herbert Newcombe was born July 5th 1924, the second
son of Harry and Lottie. Daddy loved his family, his wife, his five
children, brothers and sister, grand children and great grandchildren,
nephews, nieces. he loved children and delighted in their company.

We all have wonderful fond memories to cherish and hold in our hearts.
Generous to a fault he would give you the shirt off his back or the
last dollar in his pocket.

As a young man he served his country in the Royal Canadian Navy
enlisting in 1941.

He met the love of his life, Georgina, one summer day in 1944 in Liverpool
and they were married in November that same year. That love affair
lasted for over 61 years. When people ask me where I grew up,
I usually jokingly tell them that I grew up in a family of gypsies.

As well as loving his family Daddy was a good provider. Well respected
in his chosen vocation as a heavy duty mechanic. This translated in to
more than an average number of moves. London, Temsford,
Windsor, Parrsboro, Truro and Sydney. But no matter where
we lived although we might not had as many material things
as some people; there was always food on the table and a warm
bed to be tucked into. I think of Christmas growing up, coming to
the tree and the piles of presents to delight us. They may have had to
make sacrifices and borrow the money but his kids had a very generous
Santa Claus.

Of his five children, Daddy loved me best. really !!! I know Gary, Charlotte,
Mark and Michael are going to tell you the same thing. The point I guess
is he just loved and wore his heart on his sleeve. Absolutely nothing
made him happier than being surrounded by his family. He absolutely
glowed at his 80th birthday party at the camp because his family were
all there to honour him.

One of his great loves was the Bay of Fundy, from the time he spent
as a boy working on his fathers boats to the many summers spent at
the camp on Moose River. Everyone can remember good times and
great meals and lots of love and laughter.

Daddy, it is hard for us to accept but we know you have gone to
a better place. A place where your struggles are no more. There to
watch over us and wait until we can be with you again.

Until that time, you will live in our hearts. We will take the love that
you gave us and we will give it away.

Sandra McCully (Newcombe)

Sea Fever

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a gray mist on the sea's face, and a gray dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide,
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied,
And all I ask us a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gipsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife,
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

~I AM NOW IN HEAVEN~

~I am now in Heaven~
the gates have opened wide.
And now I have the privilege,
of walking by His side.
The Angel choir is singing,
and the music is so sweet:
I'll join them just as soon as I,
have worshipped at His feet.

~I am now in Heaven~
and the blood-washed throng is here
I recognize a lot of them,
there's not a single tear
There's Joy beyond description
and reunions by the score
Ther'll be no more separation,
for we'll be here evermore.

~I am in Heaven~
Please wipe away your tears!
I've fought the battle,
I`ve run the race
I am rid of all my fears.
There is no pain or sorrow here,
the heartaches now are past:
I've read and sung of Heaven,
and now I'm here at last

~I am in Heaven~
and Oh!, the place is Grand!
No one could ever tell me,
all the Beauties of this land.
Since I cannot describe it,
You will have to come and see
That it was worth all the trials
to live here
ETERNALLY!!!
