| If Snowflakes Were Wishes When the snow floats to the earth in large fluffy flakes, I sit at my window and think how many fall upon the ground. They slowly turn the earth…to the purest softest white, Millions I’m sure…and so silent without the slightest sound. If snowflakes were wishes I’d send them around the world, Each would go with a hope of peace and goodwill for everyone. I’d try to get the people to love one another as a family united, And remind them of the sacrifice God made with His Son. This would not be a certain time of year nor a special day, It would just be snowflakes turned to wishes that would bless. To stop all the hatred of our fellow man and calm our world, Bringing goodness back to hearts that are laden with duress. I can’t understand why the heart can hate and be so unkind, But it seems a common thing all over the world this day and age. No whiteness can be found to cover all the reasons for this, I would have my snowflakes touch gently removing all the rage. So next time it snows make your wishes for the best of worlds, As you bask in the beauty and peace of each awesome snowfall. Feel the peace wash over you as you see the flakes of purest white, In your mind send each one as a wish for love and peace to call. So if snowflakes were wishes I’d send them around the world, Each would go with a hope of peace and goodwill for everyone. Maybe, just maybe people would start to love and be a family united, And be reminded of the sacrifice God made with His Son. Norma Cornett Marek 12-21- 1992 |
