JUST JOY!!!

Just Joy is a dynamic gospel men's trio from Columbus, Ohio ministering through southern gospel, hymns, black gospel, and contemporary songs .

Just Joy did not start out as Just Joy. In 1997 the group was formed under the name of The Notes with founder Bob Black, Phil Valentine, and Horace Miller. In August of 1997 John Garnes joined the group and The Notes ministry began to move forward under the anointing of God's blessing. In late 1997 The Notes were contacted to minister in song at Fairview United Methodist Church. We were requested to send a picture for the church to make up a poster to announce the group. Bob's wife, Joyce, had a business named Just Joy Enterprise. When we sent the picture, it was sealed in an envelope with Just Joy Enterprise as the return address.
When the poster was sent to us it read GOSPEL SING: JUST JOY. When we saw the poster, we were all surprised but really liked the name. Joyce gave us permission to adopt the name for our group. We knew this name was a blessing sent from God. Everyone agreed that we needed to change our name to Just Joy, and we have been blessed ever since. This name depicts the personalities of each individual and our ministry is about spreading the Joy of the Lord!

In 1998 Just Joy became a trio and the members, Bob Black, Phil Valentine, and John Garnes continued to minister in song. In March of 2000, one member resigned and the Lord blessed us with a new member, Reggie Smith. The Christian sounds of Just Joy is made up of three Christian men who have been called together by God to spread the wonderful news of Jesus Christ. The Lord has blessed us with voices to lift up his name in song, and to blend each unique style together in harmony to form a variety of music from southern gospel, black gospel, contemporary, and with a love of old hymns in acappella.

In the past 5 years, the Lord has truly blessed and provided us with many opportunities. We performed in Ashland, Kentucky for station WTSF-TV 61, Marion, Ohio TV-39, Northern Ohio Church of God Camp Meeting, state and county fairs, Emancipation Celebration in Gala County, the Martin Luther King Celebration at Ohio University and Church of Brotherly Love in New York. Just Joy asks that you keep us in your prayers and remember that we serve a mighty God, who can do all things and who promises never to leave us nor forsake us.
