ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jamie Hamilton,
born and raised in St. Louis, is a self-taught watercolor artist for more
than 3 years. Between homeschooling her 5 children, and working along side
her husband in an inner city church, Jamie still finds time to express her
feelings and passions through the art of watercolor. Her artwork is created
mainly in watercolor, but she enjoys using pen and ink along with watercolors
to produce texturized architecture, various buildings, and homes. She paints
a wide variety of subject matter, approaching each piece of work with a
realistic style.
“A number of years ago, I developed a real desire to learn to paint”
says Jamie. “My husband, a very talented drawing artist, encouraged
me by purchasing the book, “An Idiots Guide to Drawing”. Some
folks might have been offended by the title of this book, but I was excited
and anxious to learn. Later on, I began working with watercolor pencils,
and then slowly ventured into watercolor paint. This journey in watercolor
has given me an outlet to share my heart’s deepest secrets - the joy,
the peace, and even the trials of life.”
Jamie is a member of the St. Louis Watercolor Society and participates in
various internet watercolor communities. In August of 2006, Jamie was awarded
an Honarable Mention for her painting “Zoo Carousel” at the
St. Louis Watercolor Society’s annual “Big Splash” Exhibition
and Show. Her hope and prayer is that her artwork will be enjoyed by all
and will be a reminder to appreciate the many wonderful things around us
that God has created.

"All great art is the expression of man's delight in God's work, not his own."
