A Point To Ponder Dear brethren. As I awoke this morning, I somehow began pondering on the word "Redemption." To have been "Redeemed" as we have in essence means that we have been bought with a price. Back in the days of slavery, a slave's freedom was acquired many times through someone "buying" the rights to that slave, from the one who owned him. It usually entailed a hefty price tag, for the "owner" had to be compensated greatly for the loss of that slave. The slave whose freedom was paid for by showed an everlasting gratitude to that person who redeemed him/her. That slave, once freed, made the choice to never again serve that master which had enslaved them. Why? Because they knew they were FREE. And they chose to remain that way. We ourselves, through our actions, had become slaves to sin; and therefore made our master, satan. God Himself sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to this world. He paid the highest price known to man: He bought back our freedom by shedding His blood for us at Calvary. We have been paid for IN FULL, yet many times we take this for granted. The point I'm pondering this morning is why, if Jesus paid the price for us, do we still hang on to the "slave mentality?" Does the Word not say in John 8:36: "Who the Son has set free is free indeed?" We must continue to strive NOT to serve satan any longer. he does NOT own us anymore! We are children of the Most High. satan has no legal authority over us anymore. We have been "Redeemed by His Blood!" Jesus broke the bondage that was holding us captive. We have no need, nor does it make any sense to go "back to Egypt." Let's not look back anymore! Press on to "The Promised Land!" Father, I thank You for sending Your Son to pay the price for the debt that was owed by me. He didn't deserve to pay that awesome price of His life, for He was sinless. It was I who should have given up my life for my sins. Yet You loved us so much that You allowed Him to redeem us. Therefore, in the Name of Jesus, I proclaim today, since Jesus gave His life for me, it is MY turn to give my life for Him. satan!!!! Get thee behind me! I choose not to serve you anymore, for I am FREE! I die to my flesh, so that I may forever live for my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Father, prune me everyday. Cleanse all of my imperfections away with Your Holy Fire. Make me as pure gold. You saved my life, and commanded me to go out and be a witness and a light so that others may see the work You've done in me. All for Your honor and glory. Use me in a mighty way to help set the captives free. I ask this in Jesus' Name, amen! Your servant, Joe. God bless you all. |
