Dreaming
I often dream in winter
of a hot and sunny day.
Of running in my bathing suit
and dancing while I play.
I dream that I am biking,
or swimming in a pool.
I dream that it’s the holidays
and there isn’t any school.
I dream I’m playing baseball
or skipping in the street.
I dream I’m walking in the grass
in just my bare feet.
When I’m sledding down a hill
I dream I’m in a boat.
We speed along the water
cause it’s so much fun to float!
We stop right in the middle
of the beautiful blue lake.
We see the birds and tiny fish,
oh look, a water snake!
I dream the boat ride’s over
and I get my snowshoes on.
Now I’m hiking through the woods,
I see a newborn fawn.
Then I make a snow fort
and when the job’s all done.
I’ll dream my snow fort is a tent
just big enough for one.
Then I dream I’m on a swing,
back and fourth I go.
There’s so much fun in summer,
but it’s wintertime I know.
But I can dream it’s summer
when it’s terribly cold outside.
I can close my eye and dream
or keep them open wide.
God created hopes and dreams
for every girl and boy.
So I’ll dream that it’s the summer
cause it brings me lots of joy.
