Angels

   

Angels by no means, are to take the place of or over-shadow Christ, they are messengers of God, their authority comes from God, they were created, not born.

Protection: Psalm 91:11 For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Guidance: Genesis 19:15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

Encouragement: Judges 6:12 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, the Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.

Deliverance: Acts 12:7 And, behold the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, arise up quickly and his chains fell off from his hands.

Supply: Psalm 105:40 The people asked, and He brought quails, and satisified them with the bread of Heaven

Enlightenment: Matthew 2:19-20 But when Herod was dead, behold an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, Saying arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: For they are dead which sought the young child's life

Activity: Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth

Angels were created by God Psalm 148:2-5

Angels were created before the world and man. Job 38:6-7

Angels were created Holy. Ezekiel 28:15

Angels are personal beings. They have intellect (Matthew 28:5) They have emotions (Job 38:7)(Luke 2:13) They have will (Jude 6)

Angels are spirit beings They exist as spirits-not with material bodies. Heb 1:14 An angel can be in only one place at one time. Daniel 9:21-23, 10:10-14

Although they are spirit beings, they can appear in the form of men in dreams. Matthew1:20 In natural sight with human functions Gen 18:1-8; 19:1 Seen by some and not others. 2 Kings 6:15-17

They cannot reproduce. Mark 12:25 They do not die. Luke 20:36

Angels have communicable attributes in a degree greater than man but less than God. They have more knowledge than man. They have more power than man.

They worship God. Rev 4:6-11

They ministered to Christ Luke 1:26-33;Matt 2:13;Matt 4:11;

They explained to man the Ressurection and Ascension Acts 1:10-11

They carry out God's government God's servants (Psalm 103:20) Messengers (Luke 1:19) They can be involved in controlling nature (Rev 7:1) Nations (2 Kings 19:35) Satan and demons (Daniel 10:13, 21; 12:1) They will perform future judgement for God (Matt 13:3a, Rev 15:7; 16:1-21)

They protect God's people: Angels are sent to believers Heb 1:14
They protect the godly Psalm 34:7;Daniel 6:20, 23; They oppose our enemies Psalm35:4-5

They are specifically assigned as guardians of individuals. Matthew 18:10

They are God's agents in answering prayer. Acts 12:7 Even bringing provisions. Gen 21:17-20; 1 Kings 19:5-7

They assist believers at death. Luke 16:22;Jude 9
