Let us considerer how to provoke one another to love and good deeds. {Hebrews 10:24}

We all can be forces for good or evil in the world. By our example, we can encourage one another to fol- low or to reflect God's will. The author of Hebrews reminds us that we should inspire each other to "love and good deeds."

We can see instances every day where the example of one person empowers others to follow suit. Someone needs help to complete a task, and as soon as the first person takes the initiative to pitch in, others follow. In a traffic jam no one will give an inch until one good soul allows a neighbor in, and suddenly others do the same. The church needs someone to serve in a soup kitchen; at first there is silence, but after one volun- teers, several others step forward. A basketball team is losing to a less talented team when a hustling, spirited substitute enters the game and inspires the other play- ers so that the game turns around.

God asks each of us, at different times, to be the spir- ited soul who moves others "to love and good deeds." None of us is suited to be the leader in every situation; but if we each take our turn being the positive provoker, what a better community we would have!

God wants us to provoke one another to love and good works!
