Love Never Fails

O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy endureth forever {Psalm 136:1}

Children learn early in life to trust their parents. They want to be cuddled and cared for by their parents. They soon recognize the provider of food and diaper changes. When the walking and talking begin, they realize who it is that will say "No", or "Stay away from that." In later years, children bear with parental instruction. When they disobey, they know that there will be punishment.

God nurtures us. He also punishes us when we disobey {Hebrews 12:5, 6}. It is because of His love for us that He disciplines us. His love always goes beyond punishment. God desires us to have a pure relationship with Him and therefore, provides terms of reconciliation for us. In Isiah's prophecy, he reveals God's promises of restoration.

In spite of what we have done in the past, God still has an unfailing love for us. He promises strength and prosperity, safety from enemies and His constant compassion. Our loving Father will do this for His children.

When we endure punishment, let us never forget the words of the One who continues to nurture us;"...My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed" {see Isiah 54:10b,}.

Thanks to our Saviour for reminding us that He will not push us aside when we have sinned!
