Not Guilty!

He Was Jerusalem's Most Wanted Man. And Outside The Hall Of Judgement The Mob Howled, "Crucify Him! Crucify Him!"---Unaware Those Words Would Echo Throughout The Centuries...

Not Guilty As Charged
The pages of human history present no stronger case of judicial murder than the trial and crucifixion of Jesus Of Nazareth, for the simple reason that laws were outraged and trampled underfoot in the proceedings instituted against Him. Any post-mortem on the trial of Christ proves that His condemnation wasn't based upon legal procedures. What the facts do prove is that Jesus Christ was never legally tried and convicted. Following are just some of the trial errors and gross injustices that crucified Christ.

The Arrest Of Jesus Was Illegal
*The arrest took place at night.
*It was effected through the agency of a traitor and informer, in violation of a provision of the Mosaic Code and of Rabbinic rule.
*It wasn't the result of a legal mandate from a court whose intentions were to conduct a legal trial for the purpose of reaching a righteous judgment>

The Private Examination Of Jesus Before Caiaphas Was Illegal
*The examination was conducted at night and was concluded in one day.
*No judge, sitting alone, could interrogate an accused but this rule was ignored.
*Private preliminary examination of accused persons wasn't allowed.

The Trial Before The Sanhedrin Was Illegal
*The accusation at trial was vague and indefinate. Since there was no defense, there was no legal trial, as the right to combat the allegations in the indictment is the essential principle of liberty.
*The trial commenced at night and concluded in one day.
*The accused was asked to confess.
*The leading witnesses, not Caiaphas, should have presented the charge.
*The trial occured in an illegal place, the palace of Caiaphas, rather than the Hall of Hewn Stones.
*The proceedings were conducted on the day preceeding a Jewish Sabbath and on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. If the trial was recorded on this day, it was illegal since writing was forbidden on this day. If the trial was not recorded it was illegal.

The Trial Before Pontius Pilate
Jesus was acquitted and should have been released.

The Trial Before Herod Antipas
Jesus was acquitted and should have been freed.

The Second Trial Before Herod
*Jesus was acquitted and should have been freed.
*Scourging was illegal.
*No actual sentence was ever pronounced by Herod.

Trial Errors
*Illegal interrogation. It was improper for Annas to interrogate Jesus without other judges present.
*Presumption of Guilt. The court didn't take into consideration the innocence of Jesus. According to the law, the procedures of the Sanhedrin should have encouraged an actual bias in favor of the accused.
*Violation of the Sabbath. It was forbidden to hold trials on the Sabbath holy days or preparation days. The proceedings against Jesus took place on the Sedar night.

Never in human history has there been a travesty of justice equal to that observed in the trial of Christ. NOT GUILTY
But God is sovereign. And the death of Christ by crucifixion was divinely ordained and predicted thousands of years before the event. Christ's death may have been brutally illegal, but Christ did not die in vain.

"But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed" (Isa. 53:5)
